Eviction has become more and more difficult in recent years due to the sense of tenant entitlement described in this article. There are certainly some facts in dispute here but there can be no doubt that this tenant is looking, at worst, for something for nothing or, at best, the deal of the century to be forced upon her landlord.
Can’t help but think that this whole situation could have been avoided had the landlord been more diligent. A strong written lease is a start. Enforcing that lease to the letter by making regular visits to the property and not ignoring the tenant would have helped. Being a landlord involves much more than just collecting rent checks.
