The news is filled with stories detailing the severe increase in the number of homes going into foreclosure. Those of us in touch with the real estate market saw this coming several years ago. “Professionals” of all stripes manipulated their customers into taking on sub-prime loans to buy homes they otherwise could not afford. Why? Trying to grab as much money as the mortgage broker or realtor could while the iron was hot. These people do not follow the ethical guidelines followed by real estate attorneys and the better real estate professionals. They showed no concern for the future of their clients or what was truly in their best interest. All they cared about was how much they could get paid. The good news: the market will bounce back soon enough. Those of us who are not motivated solely by the almighty dollar will survive the down turn and come back even stronger than we were before. Good riddance to those with no scrupels who created this mess.
