Our Commitment to Community Service

One of the great benefits of being a practicing lawyer is that it gives you opportunities to engage in community service that might not otherwise be available.  Attorney Ted Bond, Jr. is finishing up a six year term on the board of directors of his alma mater, Carmel Catholic High School, including two years spent as board chair.  Carmel Catholic is a faith based, college prepatory high school with a well deserved reputation as one of the best educational institutions in the Chicago area.  Ted also serves as a board member of North Shore Trust and Savings, a mutual which has been headquartered in Waukegan for over 100 year.  As a thrift, North Shore does not have shareholders and exists for the benefit of its customers.  Ted and his fellow board members are fiduciaries charged with looking out for the best interests of the depositors and borrowers.

Attorney June Peterson-Gleason also devotes significant time to community service.  She regularly serves as a family law mediator at the Lake County courthouse, helping to negotiate resolution of various disputes between both represented parties and those acting pro se.  June is also frequently appointed by the court as a guardian ad litem or child represenative, charged with meeting with parents and child to determine the best interests of the child in custody and/or adoption matters.  She has also for many years accepted assignments of pro bono cases from the Volunteer Lawyers program of Lake County.

Practicing law cannot be all about making money and billing clients.  Some of the most rewarding work we have done has come from the volunteer and community service opportunities we have been given.
